Two men flipped into the water and one of them died.

A tragic incident occurred in Sydney on a Saturday morning when a man lost his life due to a close encounter with a breaching whale. The incident unfolded when a boat carrying two individuals capsized, leading to a grim outcome.

Following the boat’s flip, emergency responders rushed to the scene to rescue the occupants. Unfortunately, one of the occupants, a 61-year-old man, was pulled from the water in an unresponsive state. Despite the efforts of emergency services, they were unable to revive him, resulting in his unfortunate demise.

The second individual on board, identified as 53-year-old Darren Curmi, acted quickly and was instrumental in ensuring the safety of his companion. He managed to keep the unconscious man afloat until the arrival of the police. Darren Curmi was subsequently transported to St George Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.

The incident prompted a swift response from the Water Police, who were alerted to the accident at the Foreshore Road Boat Ramp at Botany. Reports indicated that the incident occurred in the waters off Cape Banks at La Perouse at around 6 am that fateful Saturday morning.

Water Police Acting Superintendent Siobhan Munro commended Mr. Curmi’s heroic efforts in attempting to save the life of his companion during this tragic maritime incident.
